On 9 October the COSME-funded ReConfirm initiative hosted a session at the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels. The workshop presented two bottom-up initiatives that help regional industries and SMEs become more innovative, with concrete tools and examples of successful cooperation.
The EU Regions Week hosted this year fruitful workshops on several topics, ranging from public governance to jobs and growth. The ReConfirm initiative organised one on smart specialisation, investment and innovation opportunities for SMEs and regions in Europe.
The event brought together regions, clusters, and industrial organisations, and allowed them to discuss with smart specialisation experts. Regions willing to join existing partnerships received guidance on the potential benefits of inter-regional and transnational cooperation and support activities.
Two bottom-up initiatives were presented in detail: the Smart Specialisation platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P-Industry) and the ‘Strengthening smart specialisation by fostering transnational cooperation’ (GoSmart BSR) project.
